Disable Depth Writing! How?

How do you get open gl to test with the depth_buffer, but not write to it? For drawing blended polys in notsorted order combined with already drawen non blended walls! Its inportant that the reading still works! glDepthFunc? cant find how to set this to writing off, reading on glBlendFunk? glDisable(GL_DEPTH_WRITING);? how? -Anders-Oredsson-Norway-
