X file Animation Tutorial

I'm trying to learn how to load an animated x file (i can load static) and theres maybe three tutorials I can find online that are decent (these include toymaker, the one on this website, and the skinned mesh sample from SDK). The problem is all three of these are too well developed for me to learn. They have a ton of error handling and encapsulation features that just make a ton of jumbled coding I don't want to pick through. I'd just like the bare minimums for how to properly use the D3DXLoadXMeshFromHierarchy(), the allocation of the hierarchy, and how to load and draw it.

Anyone have any other references to online tutorials for this?

(The part costs moneh! >_<)
