Creating Isometrix Tiles In 3d Max

How do you create tiles in 3d Studio Max like like in games such as Diablo, etc. I know they render a 3d scene set at origin, but how do you cut them up into tiles?

I render the scenes in 3D Max just like normal, saving them to a bitmap or a jpeg or something. Then I open those bitmaps up in Paint Shop Pro and edit the pictures so they tile correctly if necessary. Finally, I arrange all the pictures into a larger picture that can be loaded to a surface and used in a game.
