C++ console collision

I`m making a C++ console rpg game, and i need some help. I wan`t to implement collision for character, but the character isn`t moving on an array, so how i can do it ?>

I thought i can create an array of COORD structure to save all coordinates over which the player can`t move and then check with an if statement, but i think there is an easier method to implement collision.

P.S - Sorry for my bad english.

Using a grid to test for collisions is easy. How are your world stored if not in an grid?
