Alpha Blending inf DirectDraw??

Although alpha blending can be done in direct draw. It needs to be done in software. Meaning you have to program it. There are no Video cards out on the market which support 2d alpha blending in hardware (not even that $300 Geforce 3). This is mainly due to the 3d craze that happened at the time such advancements were being made on the 2d front at the time. Anyway, DirectX has support for Alpha blending, however it''s not fully implemented, and most likely will not be implemented until someone comes out with a video card which supports 2d alpha blending. Obviously this doesn''t seem to likely considering most 2d games are considered "dead".
