Recommended Posts

To all you game developers out there. I need your help beta testing my new game. I am about 2 weeks away from revealing some more details in a devblog. So, we are making it a contest, which benefits the first 1,000 sign-ups.

Here are the details:
We are developing a new style of MMORTS social strategy game - Think eRepublik meets Evony, but better! :)
We hope to be in beta testing by January 2012, and we need beta testers
We are going to give $100 USD in virtual game currency to the first 1,000 beta testers
For everyone else who signs up we will give $20 USD in virtual currency
We are going to put $100 USD in real money to a prize pot for every 1,000 beta testers
So, 100,000 beta testers mean $10,000 USD in cash to be won! Share this will all your friends, and increase the pot!

Here is how to get involved: http://www.weneedbetatesters.com

A bit of a deceptive title don't you think? $100 and $100 of in game currency is quite a bit different. In game currency does not pay bills (as far as I know). Sort of like saying "Free car!" and then you give them a hot wheel in the mail and say "what did you expect?". I just don't think it is very "honest".

Also do you really expect to get 100,000 beta testers? Who exactly is funding you again?

I really like how your website has a javascript void for the "fine details" link. I would advise everyone NOT to sign up for this, as it is probably a scam/stealing your information to sell it.

I have adjusted the title. I'm going to work my as hard as I can to exceed 100,000 beta testers. Not sure about the funding question. I grew a community site to 1 million members, and wasn't "funded" by anyone, so 100,000 is more than doable.

Yes, the new title is better. It might be better if we knew what we were signing up for... why not a site for your game where we can see your progress and sign up based on the merits of the game, instead of some creepy looking guy wanting my email address?

oh btw on your "fine details" (that finally works):

We use your personal contact information to administer this Contest, including contacting, announcing and promoting prize winners. In addition, we may use this information to send you offers or information from us, our affiliates and from selected sponsors or advertisers (“Marketing Offers”). If you do not wish to receive Marketing Offers, you may opt-out at any time by: following the instructions at the bottom of any email Marketing Offer you receive.

Yeah, NO THANKS. I get enough spam already. Also do you really need to put your legal info on a separate domain? It just screams "I am hiding something!". I am ripping you apart because these sort of marketing stunts really annoy me..
