DX11 [SlimDX][DX11] Fullscreen and ALT+TAB weirdness

[color=#4A4A4A]I've whipped up a little test app in SlimDX to create a swap chain and render target view. Currently, it does nothing except clear the buffer to white. When setting this up, I had to disable DXGI's ALT+ENTER stuff because it appears to cook up with WinForms, and thus, I have to handle transitioning between windowed and full screen mode manually.

I switch to full screen with no issues. Now, instead of switching back using my hot key, I switch to another application using ALT+TAB. When I do this, it switches to the other application, puts my D3D app into windowed mode automatically and things go on as usual. Now, when I give focus back to my D3D app, it remains in windowed mode.

In the samples, this is not the case:
When the samples go into full screen, alt+tab switches it to windowed mode (which is fine by me), and when it regains focus it goes back to full screen. Is this the correct, default behaviour for a D3D 11 application? If so, is this a SlimDX thing? Will I have to force it back to full screen after regaining focus?

This has been driving me nuts for the last 2 hours...

Well, after a lot of digging (seriously, DXUT is a mess), I've found that this is behaviour implemented by DXUT and not standard.
