Torque2D. Excelent tool, and extremely flexible. It costs money to buy, but its worth every penny in opinion, as it lets you edit ever bit of code produced by the editor. In my opinion, Torque2D is the best 2D engine. And a good community/devs.

License will run you in the low-mid hundreds USD( not sure, as I got mine on sale for $99

And for the record, goldsrc is Valve's quake engine heavily modified (afer they bougt it up). And that was LONG ago, so it's outdated.(in my opinion)

AFAIK Ogre is the most popular 3d engine that is for all intents and purposes free of restrictions and being actively worked on. The main problem with it is that its just a rendering engine and many of the unofficial addons you'd need to make it complete are much more poorly documented and/or incomplete so its a lot of work to find the best solutions or jury rig your own. UDK and such from the bigname companies are restricted or a gimped version of the stuff commercial developers use.

What car is used most or is the best to use?

It depends entirely on what you want to do with the car.

Personally, when I make games, I like to use SFML and a 2d physics engine (currently I'm using chipmunk-physics). Much of the work is done for me by chipmunk-physics, but, I still get to handle some the lower-level coding. That, to me, is where the fun is.
