blender UV image format help

hello guys Im very new in this forum well Im actually making a model of the main character of my game so Im at the part when Ive to add an image the map it (Im working with blender) so I imported a file within a .dpx extension but it seems that blender doesnt recognize it so Im looking for a good 2d vector draw editing program that uses extensions compatible with blender I suppose that you guys already know the best program for making this images I hope your answer soon thanx in advance

If your DPX file is, as I assume, an image, you should convert it to a less proprietary format before use: Blender can use mainstream image formats like PNG or Targa as textures.
I suggest you draw seams and assign UV coordinates in Blender, then export the texture for modification in generic bitmap editors. Your iterations would consist of saving the texture from your image editor and reloading it in Blender to see it applied to your model.
