So I installed Visual Studio 2010 for C# - I just uninstalled it and reinstalled it - and everytime I start a new empty project it hits me with this one error.

The error goes something like:

'microsoft.data.entity.design.bootstrappackage.boostrappackage,
microsoft.data.entity.design.boostrappackage, version = 10.0.0.0,
culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f57f11d50a3a' package
did not load correctly.

the problem may have been caused by a configuration change or by the installation of another extension. you can get more information by running the application together with the /log parameter on the command line, and then examining the file
'c:\users\owner(that's me!)\appdata\roaming\microsoft\vcsexpress\10.0\activitylog.xml'.

I googled this bit and couldn't find anything exceptionally helpful.

Then I deleted that folder, but it didn't fix the problem.

It might be due to the fact that i've installed visual studio 2008 and openTK.
Nope, I've uninstalled everything, deleted everything, and reinstalled everything. No dice.

If anyone has a better suggestion, that'd be great.

In the VS 2010 installer, there is a repair option. Try this. If it doesn't help, remove and install the complete .NET Framework again. This should help.

In which order have you installed/reinstalled? While VS supports side by side i think it only does if you install in order (so 2005 then 2008 then 2010 but not the other way around)

Yeah the repair does nothing and a lot of options don't appear on the menu where they should be, like unloading classes just isn't there, but i think the code compiles fine so hopefully this doesn't bite me later but i think i'm gonna live lol. Thanks guys.
