Hi there,

I'm currently doing a little Minecraft clone for school and I was wondering how can Minecraft update vertexbuffers really fast when you remove or add a bloc? Does it rebuild or recycle the vertexbuffer/indexbuffer? Also, in my clone, I'm using an octree for optimization (8 * 8 * 8 * 8 * 8 blocs which is actually 32 * 32 * 32). If I use a vertexbuffer/indexbuffer for each 32 * 32 *32 blocs, will it be efficient when I add or remove a bloc?

Thank you

Updating the vertex buffer every time a block changes isn't as bad as you think - considering most game engines will lock, fill/update and unlock several VBs each frame, and the blocks don't change every frame.
