Hello everyone
I made a simple particle engine in sfml and c++ and I want to make a simple fire effect in my particle engine.

this is the best I could do. I used this color (226, 88, 34) http://www.colorcomb.../colors/E49135. I used the image in the attach file and i changed it color in my code. the image is in white and its a circle.

Here is a video that shows the best effect i could do.

You definitely want some sort of texturing & blending in there. My fire effect (purely a toy, not designed for any sort of performance) uses a combination of the following:

  • Poisson process for emission
  • Brownian motion-type disturbances to particle motion
  • Particles shrinking as they climb
  • Slight upward acceleration (so you sort of get the effect of little flakes of fuel breaking off and convecting skyward)
  • Random disturbances to the initial parameters of each of these effects (so that e.g. some particles shrink faster than others, live longer, etc)

    Just a few ideas.
