Repeated Debugging Results in Low Framerate (5fps) - nVidia Driver Issue?

So I have this rather strange issue in Windows 7 where, after repeatedly starting and stopping debugging (in Visual Studio Express), the framerate in my game, and every other game on my system (OpenGL or DirectX), will completely tank. Everything starts running at around 5fps. A reboot and/or driver reinstall will fix it, but it's rather annoying. Has anybody else had this problem? I'm guessing it's a resource leak of some sort because I'm killing the game instead of exiting cleanly. Is there any way to recover from this without rebooting?

i have a nvidea gtx 560m for most of my programming, and have never experienced this issue, what card are you using?
Check out https://www.facebook.com/LiquidGames for some great games made by me on the Playstation Mobile market.
I have a GTX 285. I'm starting to think it might be XFire related, as closing XFire has made the problem go away for the moment.
