is it possible on Open GL to create a GUI (like gwen or something else that is rendered in Ortho-Mode) with 3D Elements in it like the Inventory in Skyrim

Skyrim-inventory.jpg

eg can i draw my scene, switch in Otrho-Mode , render my gui and switch back so that the item /the helm in here) is rendered above all other elements (scene and gui) of the scene and displayd on the top of the gui? Edited by Shaarigan

You can switch projections, or any matrix, as much as you like whenever you like. Draw the GUI as usual, and then draw the object with desired setup. To position the object within the GUI, call glViewport with the screen-space coordinates where you want the 3D-object to appear, and then draw as usual.
