OS: Linux Mint 12
IDE: Code::Blocks

I'm using OpenGL and GLUT with OpenAL for audio. I want to make an editor that uses the OpenGL and OpenAL APIs. I want it to be cross platform which is why I'm working under Linux right now and later I'll attempt Mac OS X\FreeBSD, but right now I'm focusing on Windows and Linux. What I need to know is how I can embed it into a form like in a Windows form, the problem being is that I'm on Linux. A good start would be for me to understand how to create a form in general with Linux, but I don't know how.

With this, I have a feeling that I'm going to have to stop using GLUT, and I'm willing to, but still any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, because if nothing else I want to get this working on Linux, it's going to be a type of open source game engine.

FLTK is probably the best bet. It has a 'Glut window' widget (Effectively a GL canvas with a glut-like interface). That should work without too many changes to your code....
There are a few glut based GUIs (glui for example), but they aren't all that imho.
The only other alternative to the above, is to strip glut, and go with something like Qt. (Which is better than FLTK, although may involve a little bit more work)
