parallax occlusion artifacts

I implemented parallax occlusion mapping and noticed artifacts at grazing angles. I reproduced the problem in the DXSDK DetailTessellation sample:

Is there anyway to fix this?

That's a typical artifact from relief mapping based techniques that can't be avoided, it can only be reduced by increasing the number of samples.
