Display Variables from inside custom shaders?

I want to debug my shaders so i can see the value of each vertex after it has been transformed. Anyone have any recommendation on how i can achieve this?

Which API are you using? In DX10/DX11 you can stream out your vertices, which you can then readback on the CPU.

You can also just use PIX, or Parallel Nsight, or AMD GPU PerfStudio to debug your vertices and/or see the values being output after the vertex shader.
