WPF UI as Game UI

When designing a game is it bad to use WPF UI as the game UI? I personally dont really look forward to UI related tasks in games, SlimDX and WPF make my life easy allowing me to use XAML controls in game, however since my Maya days I have been a little nervous about using external UI controls that affect 3D apps. Obviously whatever I make will never have even remotely as many buttons and controls as Maya but it will make use of several WPF ones, in game and fullscreen (not sure if that matters).

How bad would this be for performance oppose to say if I made a UI from moveable sprites or w/e the other methods are?
