node in closed list, then update, question on update.

What this update function do? i see several pushes and pops
and connection between kid = node->kid[]
then kid->parent = node
Can't remember exactly, but what does all this do?

void AStarNode::Update() {
AStarStack s;
AStarNode *node, *kid;
int k;


while(!s.IsEmpty()) {
node = s.Pop();
for(k=0; k < 8; k++) {
if(node->kids[k] == NULL) continue;
kid = node->kids[k];
if(kid->gsteps > node->gsteps+1.0) kid->gsteps = node->gsteps+1.0;
kid->parent = node;
