Are there any in-depth explanations for Microsoft's GameStateManagement example for beginners?

I want to implement this (or something similar) into my game, but I don't understand it. I can copy/paste my code into it fine, but I want to know what's going on with the code, as well as how to add new screens (like options screens, etc)

So is there anyone who can make sense of it, or some site with information?

Or is there some alternative that's easier?
