I lost an important .cs file (don't ask). Is there any way to reconstruct it from a compiled project in Visual Studio 2010? As a last resort the dead hard drive is in the deep freeze....Ancient Chinese Secret. I know this is off topic but this is a tried and true forum so if anybody can point me in the right direction.....

While I can't assist with the lost .cs file, have you considered looking into a revision-control source repository? A little self-discipline goes a long way, and it beats the pants off standard backups.

You can use tools such as Reflector or ILSpy to decompile the assembly your lost code lives in. And yeah, version control can be a valuable investment for any project, I've been there recently with a dead hard drive and losing code is not fun.
