[color=#333333]I would very much like to learn some internet programming for windows in order to create a way to download files for my programs or even connect to another peer in a peer to peer chat application. Could anyone provide advice on the difference vs WinInet vs WinSock 2.0? and also what would be better to learn in your opinions?

WinInet is a high-level wrapper for doing specific kinds of things over a network connection, such as making HTTP requests. Winsock is all about low-level connectivity support and giving you the ability to send your own data across the network with a very high degree of control.

If you're interested in network programming, you'll need to understand sockets at some point, so I'd say just go straight for Winsock.
