Bone Rotations in Local space

Hi, I was wondering if when you rotate bones in XNA, are they rotated according to their local coordinates from the modelling software? Or are they rotated according to XNA coordinate system?

They will be rotated according the local space they are already in. Local coordinate is whatever coordinate you have them defined in before any transformation is applied to it. So at the end there is no such things as XNA coordinate system or anything like that. You defined your object in a space and you apply different transformation to get it from one location to another.
