Hi gamedev community.
My brother is using 3D Studio max and the application is slow when he needs to move a model previously rendered.

The system and PC that he has are:
- Windows 7 64 bits Ultimate
- 3D Studio Max 9
- CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Black Edition
- 4 x 2GB Kingston 1333
- Samsung 500 GB 7200 RPM
- GTS 450

Which of the following will improve drastically the performance (one or more)?
1) Format PC
2) Buy more ram: 16 GB (4 x 4GB)
3) Buy faster ram: 1600 and not 1333
4) Quadro video card

Thanks for help :)

Hello and welcome here ,

If it still helps you , know that 3ds max should render and mode everything smooth if your model if not bigger than 100.000 tris and you don't have spyware , malware or anything really bad going on with the computer ( overheating maybe ) .

My advice would be : format computer , check for overheating ,hardware compat. and reinstall . Also install latest drivers and set your 3ds max to direct 3d . Cheers .
Hi,

Some people on the Internet reported having better performance with different graphics modes (D3D, OGL, ...). I did not have luck with those however.

Also, it's often suggested that you update your graphic card drivers as well.

Hope this helps,
Victor Freire
