I have source code for a program made in java and want to make changes to it.. Can I convert it c++/c# to make it easier for me to read and code?
And then make it back to java again or is it just time to learn java?

Learn Java. If you know C#, it is pretty similar. I recently ported a small library to C# in less than a day never having really touched Java, just had to google a few differences on collections, IIRC. Going from managed (Java) to unmanaged (C++) would be more difficult.

Converting to c++ and then back to Java would be too much work for the sole purpose of changing things. Learn Java.
