Hello,

I am going to upgrade from XP to windows 7. Is DirectX 10 the best version to install or should I install directX 11.

I have a series 8 gForce card.

any suggestions appreciated..

You don't have to install anything, the DirectX runtime is included in the OS itself. The runtime includes libraries for all recent DX versions from DX9 to DX11

If you want to do DX development you'll have to install the latest DirectX SDK (being the June 2010 version) which also includes the needed files to develop against all the recent DirectX versions.

Your GeForce 8xxx card of course won't be able to run any DX11 features, but it will be able to run DX11 on a DX10 feature level. You might want to consider upgrading your card though, since it's quite outdated

Thanks,

Would something like this be a better option in terms of video card :

Asus NVidia GTS450 1GB DDR3 PCI-E Graphics Card ?
That could run DX11, but it's not exactly the newest card out there
By the way, I'm not all too sure whether this forum is the right place to discuss this
