I heard that Nintendo is giving out free indie dev tools for Wii U eventually. Does anyone know if this rumor has a shred of truth behind it? http://wiiudaily.com/wii-u-games/ scroll down to Wii U ware to see for yourself.
There were similar rumours about the first Wii.

For the first Wii the rumours started the same time studios got pre-release hardware and some overexcited and overhyped people interpreted it as every teen and their dog getting a devkit. In reality a few existing major studios were able to get pre-release hardware, that was about it.
