DX11 DX11 swapChain->Present problem

I'm currently trying to render a single vertex (yes you heard right xD) to the screen.

Now when I present this to the screen using

swapChain->Present(0, 0); everything is fine.

But using this:

swapChain->Present(1, 0); the vertex doesn't appear !?

How does synchronizing the render loop make the vertex disappear ?
Can anyone tell me what's going on here ?

UPDATE: Solved it. IASetInputLayout() was not set. Edited by lipsryme
