I've been watching the development of Elder Scrolls: Online for some time now. I'd like to know what the gaming community thinks of this and or what should be put in, changed, etc.

I would love to hear everything you guys have to say about it!

it would suck.
no skills, only levels. (bethesda's advtange removed)
extreme time to level up. (bethesda's advtange removed)
Bad grapphics. (bethesda's advtange removed)
boring classes/skills/spells, (skill design was never bethesda's strong point).
boring enemies, (enemy design was never bethesda's strong point)
it will end as a crap wow clone and die.

It's to my understanding that Bethesda Game Studios which is a subsidiary of Zenimax Media will not be responsible for the development of The Elder Scrolls Online. Bethesda Softworks which is also a subsidiary of Zenimax will publish the game but will have minimal if any say in the direction of the game's development which is being developed by Zenimax Online Studios, who have their own development team.

I look forward to the release of more information on the game. I didn't really share in the excitement when the game was announced though.

Me too. The whole Elder Scrolls series is unique, almost a niche product. But once it goes online it is 1 of 1 mio. MMORPGs, struckling with all the game design issues encountered in a ORPG which I don't believe will be to its best.

It sounds a lot like a common management decision: 'Hey, everyone makes $$$ with MMORPGs, we must do it too'

I'll definitely keep my eye on it as time passes. I've enjoyed playing the Elder Scrolls series. If it gets really hyped before release which I'm sure it will I just hope it delivers if I end up buying it. I don't fancy buyers remorse.

In comparing it to WoW I think we're talking about two different beasts entirely. I see them almost as exact opposites, barring the fantasy elements of course. WoW always seemed gimicky to me, rooted too deep in fantasy and suspension of disbelief. Whereas the Elder Scrolls would strive to convince you that the entire world could thrive without you. I'll be very excited if they continue that trend, to be able to experience an even larger world with allies instead of alone (AI makes for terrible company). I'm just hoping they keep the action real time as in their original games.

Not to say it can't end up as a crappy WoW clone, that risk is always there with any MMORPG, but I don't think its fair to assume as much without more details. All in all I'm with Aerin on this one, I don't expect to regret the purchase.

I agree with you NaturalNines, and saying that I read an article from a press release about a demo of it, and the people that are working on it were doing mmorpgs' before Wow was even released. Now, I do agree that this could be a total piece of crap, but at the same time I could see it really being something to be sought after. That is, if they do it right. I think if they listen to the community that's not trying to just shove it off, then they could really have a good game on their hands.
