I would try http://www.aristeia.com/books.html < Effective C++ series.
Also, http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Through-Programming-Second-Edition/dp/1598633600/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1342468442&sr=8-3&keywords=beginning+C%2B%2B+game < Great book. Goes through basics of C++ but shows them in a game format so it's easier for a gamer to understand.
If you're looking to learn a graphic library and start making games, try SFML.
http://www.gamefromscratch.com/page/Game-From-Scratch-CPP-Edition.aspx < Great tutorial which shows you how to use SFML and also how to make a pong clone.
Very easy to understand.

Utility 3D is a pretty nice program honestly. Most things are done for you (kinda of?) but it's a nice visual program. If you wanna see what you can make with it I would try it out, personally I haven't fully used it yet just because I'm sticking more to code.
