I really like Game Coding Complete, 4th edition:
http://www.amazon.com/Game-Coding-Complete-Fourth-Edition/dp/1133776574/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346010618&sr=8-1&keywords=game+coding+complete+4th+edition
It's about making a really stable and versatile engine. I've learned more about C++ in two weeks from making the engine described in the book than I have in a whole year.
