More seriously though, what are your requirements? Are you looking for an engine with plenty of functionality (like jMonkeyEngine for example), or a more basic framework (such as lwjgl) to work with. Do you want 2d or 3d? What platform(s) are you targeting? We can't really make informed suggestions without further information.

You could look through the engines that support Java in the DevMaster engine database for some options.
