Hi guys!
I have a solid basis in programming and I'm learning Java at the moment.
I also know C++, VB.net, etc...
My IDE has always been Visual studio (2008-2010-2012), but that doesnt support Java.
What IDE do you guys suggest that is similar to VS (I'll use it for some simple games).
I have used the search option, but most topics were 11-4 years old
Thanks!
IDE most comparable to VS
Thanks guys, keep them coming.
I'll definitely check Netbeans out.
I already tried Eclipse, but I was overwhelmed with all options they gave me, just to create a project (I chickened out...)
Moar IDE's, moar thanks!

And just another question.
What is the difference between Java SE/FX/EE/ME/...
I have to choose a version of Netbeans to download
What's the best one for game development?
Thanks again!

A very good and free IDE is eclipse IDE for java.
Eclipse is pretty much the Java IDE least like Visual Studio...
There is also the excellent IntellJ idea (http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/index.html)
Visual Studio 2012 IDE is much better. Eclipse/Netbeans are only comperable to Visual Studio 2010 (it had only keyword coloring), while VS2012 also colors #defines, classes, structs, typedefs, there is possibility to configure appearance of methods, local variables, fields, params/args, global variables. I've Googled a lot but VS2012 is best you can get, and it's even free for 'basic' version.

But still a pretty terrible Java compiler...
