What is the best book in the PrimaTech series to learn DirectGraphics and DirectPlay for someone who already knows OGL, DirectAudio, and DirectInput?

There is one in the works that has a very strong focus on shaders and other advanced techniques, but won''t be available until February.

I''m a beginner in Direct3D and DirectPlay, so advanced books won''t do me any good

Well, I am a newbie to Direct3d also. I have the book "Beginning Direct3d programming" (I believe that is the name of it). I find it really helpful. The biggest reason I bought it is that it uses DirectX 8. I found this really important with the changes and improvements Microsoft has made between 7.0 and 8.0. Since I eventually want to go into multiplayer programming I also bought the book "Multiplayer Game programming", also of the PrimaTech Game Programming Series of books.

After all, if it weren''t for the PrimaTech books, I might not have found this site

Beggining Direct3d game programming isn''t that much of a good book from what I have heard. But I will recommend you to get The Zen of Direct3d Game PRogramming it was recommended to me by others and andre lamothe. For Multiplayer sidespect of things you''ll want to get Multiplayer Game Programming which is excelent for learning dplay.
