I am making an RTS similiar to that of Red Alert. If you didn''t like something about Red Alert and would like to see in another game, tell me. If you want specific units, or commanding options, I''m all ears. This is going to be as realistic as possible, and if you have any realistic ideas, I want to hear them. I''m also new to C++, and just recently learned about Classes, but I want everything you can dish out at me. -Ace

Start small, try here.

Do yourself a favor... listen to the two above posts.

as I have heard before from numerous writers:
"You must walk before you run, but before that you must crawl."
We all start out thinking we can make games so easily. Me I am just learing direct X, and have been in C++ for quite a while(im in between the walking and crawling part. And a game cant be written by 1,2 or 3 people, it takes a large team. I suggest you join a group of people, you may be surprised at the results of how much faster you learn about these kinda things.(online groups)

You''re not ready for this step yet. Listen to the first three replies; their reference will give you a lot of information and perspective that''s necessary to be effective. Good luck, and welcome aboard.
yeah... first of all, try to make a game engine. Get some graphics up, a player controlled character. Then add some sound. And then some other (computer controlled) characters.

Then you''ll have an idea of how to work

I would like to give a advice.
Buy a good book on C++ and visit all forums if you are intrested in programming.
If you are intrested in making games, and making YOUR ideas into games, take a project managment course. Learn the art of managment, become a producer and let the specialists do the programming, artwork and writing.

a note to all programmers:
The game industry is in no way diffrent from other industries. Making a game is more or less a identical process to manufacturing a car.
