brand newbie! where do i start???

i have msvc,dx8sdk, and pr4 beta. Idont know how to use any of these but i want to make a game. Iam good with 3d modeling however. Can some one drop a link to atutorial please so i can figure out where to start? i dont undestand what to do with workspaces...

thanks for the help dactylos, i have the Wrox Press C++ Tutorial that came with visual c++. But i haven''t started reading it yet. i''ll start today.
