text in OpenGL, an easy way

is their an easy way to create text or display text in openGL, i want to be able to display things like game score, but i want to be able to position, scale and change colour of it!! so does OpenGL contain Text output features, or can anyone suggest any other methods??? Chrs

hi,

you could use wglBitmapFonts if your using Opengl
under windows however this is slow so you are
better of writing your own functions and using
Texture fonts which are far faster.
(if properly implimented).

Like XAOS said, check the nehe tuts. The only reason I can see that these methods wouldn''t suit is if you''re not using WIN32. In which case use the GLut text functions, or SDL or something.
