I was recently given the 3D Game Studio A8 game engine as a gift. I was just wondering how it compares to other engines such as Torque 3d, unity, udk and other well known engines. Is it good? Strengths and weaknesses? I'd just like to get an idea of whether it's considered to be a good engine or not.

I haven't any experience with it, but it looked OK from what I saw of it.

Since it was given as a gift, that makes it that much better. I recommend you take a look at it, and see if it works for what you want to do/make. Sometimes the best tool for you isn't the best for someone else.

Also, if you google "3d gamestudio vs." you will easily find a few comparisons, and you can also look at the reviews on devmaster to see what some have said, although that site is notorious for having fake reviews posted too.
