Hi, Does anyone know if there''s a way to open the MIDI sequencer using MCI and get it to read data from an area of memory as opposed to a file? The reason being I have made a simple file format similar to DOOM''s WAD files, which stores all my game data, and I would prefer it if I could simply read the MIDI data from the storage file into memory and play from it from there. Or must I extract the data temporarily to a file and then play it?

Hmm, reading around on the net appears to suggest that it isn''t possible to use the high-level MCI functions to play MIDI data in memory, but I can do it if I decode the MIDI data in the file/memory myself into MIDI sequencer-compatible MIDI events and send them directly to it using a stream buffer.
Has anyone done or at least tried to do this before? Or I am really just talking to myself?
