Vertex buffers and Data Streams in D3D8

hi i have a question about IDirect3DDevice8::SetStreamSource() and all that stuff , i dont really understand when i should use each stream , and what stream to select , and whether i can bind more then one vertex buffer to a single data stream... i will be very grateful if u can answer those questions , thanks.

With fixed function pipeline, use stream 0.
With vertex shaders, you can use other streams.
You can only have one vertex buffer per stream.
