How Much Graphics, How Much Algorythm?
I'm new to game programming.
To people who are serious, how much is game programming dealing with graphics and how much programming the symatics and AI so forth?

I would have to say it depends on what type of game your going to write. If you going to write a tetris clone you just have to be able to draw blocks, make them fall, and detect when a row is completed. A 3D game on the other is much more involved when programming graphics etc. If you''re new I would suggest starting a small project and working your way up. At least that way you''ll have some Idea of what your in for when you start larger projects.

Also you might want to try the "For Beginners" section of GameDev.

I think he meant the For Beginners reference above, not the forum.
