Slick2d Passing values between states

Okay, my game is set up to have a main menu, play and loadMenu state. In the LoadMenu State, you can select which level you want to play instead of having to play through the game to get to each level, you can also play user created levels. What I need to do is take a selection from the LoadMenu state, and pass a string into the Play state when it enters so it knows which level to load. Any ideas?
