Is it possible, recommended, and how to change the D3DSWAPEFFECT mode from one type to another?

i.e. If I have it set to FLIP change it to DISCARD?

Has anyone tried this? Would I have to create a new d3dpp instance?

it is true that this enumaration goes into account at the point of creating IDirect3dDevice9. If it seems strange that this behaviour cannot be changed during runtime of device, be thinking that it tells the device hot to create back, front buffers, or haw many of them, so before hardly investigating, how to change it, maybe you should render to your own target all the way through and standardly present it.
