Getting People to Know About Your Small Project

I'm working on a couple small projects and I was wondering if there was an way to make more people know about what you're doing or if it's just luck.

The usual way is to open your mouth and tell the person what you're doing (preferably after he or she asks, "what exciting thing are you working on now?"

You can make a gameplay video on Youtube. If people are interested, people will want to try it. If it is even better, people will automatically share with people through "word of mouth" for you.

Yeah youtube is an amazing resource when it comes to showing people your gameplay. Keep some videos on your phone and bring it to places like GDC and whip it out to show people.
