OGL -> DirectX8 conversion

I''m trying to convert a piece of OpenGL code to DirectX8. I have an array of data that I can reformat to a d3dvertesbuffer but I''m not sure how I''d send the info to the d3d rendering engine as each vertex is used by multiple triangles. In openGL I''m useing the glDrawElements function to draw all the triangle strips but I haven''t been able to find a Direct3D function that will allow me to draw multiple strips using random vertecies of a single array. DirectX seams to require everything be in sorted order. If anyone can point me in the right direction to do this I''d greatly appreciate it.
