Hi

I would like to discuss creating a new voxel game.

I'm not talking about an Minecraft clone but a completely different story. Here is one example http://www.aceofspades.com/ and here is another  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1590639245/stonehearth

If we agree the basics are already there [free] to start with - code [terasology], voxel editor [Qubicle Constructor] the remaining part is gameplay [story]. It should be fairly easy to create a minimum viable product to test various concepts/ideas.

What are your thoughts?

Wojciech

I'm of the mind that anybody who starts making another cube-based "voxel" world type game right now will have missed the boat by the time they finish it..

Make something people will play by making something nobody has seen. That's what Minecraft was when it was released, and that's why it is emulated to death, and to think that all the good ideas are done, and you can't think of a better one, is to admit defeat.

At least, I would feel that I've sold myself short, and cheated myself out of success if I just made a cube world game. You can do whatever you want.

well, make one if you want, personally I like the look of them, and I am making one, because it is the only art asset that I can make that doesn't look like crap :D
