text parsers

Hi everyone. I am developing a text game in Win32 Console mode using C++. This game is an adventure game similar to Colossal Cave (Adventure), which has as text parser. Does any one have any links or general info and how to make a text parser for text games? Please respond, thanks.

There is a complete set of tutorials on flipcode about how to make a script for a game. This tuts may be a bit more advanced than what you need, but they explain how to use Lex (aka Flex, Bison) an app kind of like an wizard for generating C programs that parse text. Very powerfull stuff.

check out this site... it is a text-based parser used for games like zork and whatnot... you can download the compiler to create your own colossal-cave-like games, or just look at the specs and source for ideas...
