Hi

Is there any tool for creating first person shooter map? There are some tools for world creation, but FPS map often involved urban assets like detailed houses, streets,.. is there any software specialized for this purpose?

for what game? almost all FPS games will have their own Map editor and you'll either be allowed to mod or wont be (BF3 / COD).

If its for one you made, you probably need to make your own.

If your asking where to get Assets, there are sites like TurboSquid which can sell you some. or use a 3D modeling problem like Blender, 3DS max etc. to make them.

The really detailed parts of the map are usually done in a 3d modelling package and imported as static meshes into the level editor. Really modern engines such as UDK tend to just use the level editor for blocking out the level and then all the detailed geometry is imported.

Well, you could make your own tools and game from scratch, but that takes forever. A mod can fill most people's needs. Half-Life 2 is probably my favorite game to mod. It is easy, efficient, customizable, and pretty. That is done with Valve Software's (the developer of the Half-Life series) Hammer Editor. They have numerous other games that accept Hammer mods, so you can make an amazing single-player shooter for HL2, or make a fun TF2 multiplayer map. These aren't full games, just modifications to the originals, but most modders will tell you that it is not worth it to make your own stuff from scratch, as you can make any game from existing games with modification.

C dominates the world of linear procedural computing, which won't advance. The future lies in MASSIVE parallelism.
