FMod frequency/pitch slide

Years back on the Amiga, i had a driving game that made engine noises with a single sound sample, altering the pitch according to the speed/revs of the car to get a great purring engine noise. When i tried to do the same using FMod, i find that FSOUND_Set_Frequency changes the kHz and thefore quality of the sound, but i cant seem to change the pitch. Is this possible with PC sound hardware?? FMod has effects like Echo/Flanger but i cant seem to find one that does what i want. Any ideas?? -- Matt Barnett
