What do you think of this terrain?

Can't really see the terrain, to be honest, so it's impossible to make a good judgement. Folks got distracted by the rain (which does look good) but if you want an honest assessment of the terrain itself we'd need to actually see it.

Hm I don't think anything of the terrain because I cannot see it :) Nice rain effect though (on the image, dunno how it looks on a video).

Remove the rain and post another screenshot, if you want to hear feedback about the terrain. ;)

Here you go, it finally stopped raining:

Maybe even some fire:

That actually didn't help that much. Try a little bit more of sunlight ;)

Yeah, it's a bit dark.

On what basis are we being asked to critique this? Is it the overall aesthetic? If that's the case, it needs more stuff. Real terrain isn't that bare and slick, barring empty and bare terrain like rolling dunes.

Are we being asked to critique it on technical merits? If that's the case, we really can't see the detail on the terrain so we don't know if there are problems with your texture splatting and detail mapping.

@FLeBlanc: It's supposed to be dark because of the scene environment.

Here is another scene:

And here is a screenshot (without rain and with point light):

Well, for a dark terrain it looks pretty good. I think you choose the fog offset well for an oppressing atmosphere, but you might try a slightly bigger view distance.

And the rain is awesome. When I have time, I'll look over the links from you because I will need rain.

If you want dark, you did a fine job. As a pure subjecive preference, I like my scenes bright, so I'm trying to roll with something like this:

I can see that you managed to get you point light to work. Great!

How many point lights do you have support for?

8 Lights per mesh, I'm planning to render the mesh multiple times if it need more lights than the maximum.
